The role is an AI Product Engineer focused on understanding how developers use AI and delivering features that solve real problems in a fast 0-to-1 environment, treating AI as a teammate with agentic workflows to automate toil, and encouraging applicants even if they’re close to the requirements. You’ll design the AI experience by building frontend features that integrate LLMs and agentic frameworks, translate vague product needs into actionable technical plans, own high-quality TypeScript/React code, collaborate with backend to define APIs, and participate in design reviews and manual testing. Requirements include strong TypeScript and React skills, AI fluency with prompt engineering and multi-step agentic workflows, familiarity with LLM APIs and AI-assisted dev tools, solid CS fundamentals, and a collaborative AI-orchestrator mindset; bonus points for cross-platform desktop experience, prior work on developer tools or IDE extensions, and open-source contributions. The company is seeking a pragmatic, startup-minded Senior Machine Learning Engineer or Applied Data Scientist who can take ideas from concept to production, determine feasibility, and ship solutions that create measurable impact across data, product, and engineering. You’ll identify high-value opportunities from product, customer, and operational data; own end-to-end execution from data exploration, modeling, experimentation, backend integration, to productization; define success metrics and instrument outcomes; and help shape how GitKraken uses AI to improve workflows and team velocity. The role requires deep experience in ML or applied AI at a senior level, a track record of shipping data/ML-powered capabilities, comfort moving from messy problems to practical execution, cross-stack capability, strong product judgment, and clear communication of tradeoffs to technical and non-technical partners; ownership mindset.
